David Ortiz Aims for a Home Run with Sale of His Weston Home

Red Sox legend, David "Big Papi" Ortiz, cut down the selling price of his residence in Weston, MA by almost a million dollars from the listing price of $6.3M last year, to the new $5.5M price point.

The mansion is on Driftwood Lane, and clocks in at over 7,700 sq ft of living space on a 2.15-acre lot. The gated, single-family home features six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, a fenced yard, and a spacious horseshoe driveway.

At the entrance, guests find an elegant circular staircase, a formal living room with a stone fireplace, and a private office/studio on the ground floor. It's also where you'll find the formal dining room and the kitchen which features a built-in breakfast area, a massive island, custom made walk-in pantry, and an extra sub-zero refrigerator.

On the second floor, you can enjoy a master suite that includes a sitting room, custom closets, and a master bath with a tub designed for relaxation. Red Sox fans can even enjoy a custom space with a special wall mural; the Fenway scoreboard.

The house even features a room crafted with materials from, you guessed it, Fenway Park; a detail any real Sox fans will find hard to overlook. Other amenities include a home theater that opens into the bar, a wine cellar, a playroom for the kids, and a gym.

The backyard is potentially even more fun than the sport inspiring the homes design. The lucky owner, and their luckier friends, can swim in the in-ground pool, bask in the hot tub, or enjoy BBQ (without having to do those cookout table legs) on the oversized patio. The backyard itself is big enough to host a Corleone wedding, or play a full fledged baseball game. The detached heated garage only has three spaces, but guests can pack the horseshoe driveway just fine. That gate might even ensure no FBI agents come around recording VINs and plates.

The location is excellent to boot; only 15 miles west from downtown Boston! Weston is known for its open space, meadows, and woods, therefore, you get the best of both worlds.

Big Papi is currently serving as an MLB studio analyst for Fox Sports.
