How to Declutter Your Home

It’s normal for homeowners to collect some clutter after living in the same house for a while.  However, when it’s time to sell your home, potential homebuyers don’t want to see it.

Start by going into each room of your home individually.  Organize what you have so you know where everything is.  Look at what you have in each room, including what’s in drawers and cabinets.  Then, make a checklist by room of things to keep, things to give away, and things to throw out.  Once you’ve made a list, go room by room and collect the things you are going to throw away and the things you are going to give away.  Put them in separate buckets and get rid of them accordingly.

Decluttering is more important than staging your home, so this step in incredibly important and should be done before taking pictures for online listings and allowing people to come view your home.  Not only will this help your home seem more appealing to new buyers, but it will also help you when it comes time to move and you have fewer things to pack.
