How To Spruce Up Your Home For A Fall Sale

how to get house ready for fall sale

Fall is a great season to showcase your home, especially in New England. Here are a few ways to spruce up your space for a fall sale.

First things first, while we’re told not to judge a book by its cover – when it comes to home buying most people do just that. So make sure you start by cleaning up your exterior. Outdoor space is one of the top five most important factors to buyers. However, the number one place sellers neglect is the yard.

Some of the most important fall clean up tasks are as follows:

  • Rake the leaves
  • Remove any loose sticks
  • Weed the flower beds
  • Trim the flowers, bushes and shrubs
  • Clean the gutters
  • Aerate the lawn
  • Paint the exterior
  • De-clutter

Next, it’s time to move inside. Since its fall, try to incorporate a cozy fall smell. Don't overpower your house by lighting candles in every room. Instead try a simpler approach - brew a fresh pot of pumpkin coffee, burn a couple of fall scented candles or bake some cookies.

Also, be sure to turn on all the lights in the house for each showing - it starts to get darker in the fall and you want your home to feel as big and inviting as possible.
