Just beyond the door is a wondrous world of natural activity. Whether in a local forest or pond or even the park at the end of the block, the cycle of life and the daily happenings of nature can delight a young child's curiosity all year round.
PUDDLESTOMPERS' mission is to connect the youngest naturalists, ages 2 to 8 years (and their parents and caregivers), to the open spaces that surround their homes. By providing families with seeds of interest and tools of exploration, PUDDLESTOMPERS seeks to help build the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment and love of the outdoors.
A percentage of PUDDLESTOMPERS' revenues are given to the host towns to support local environmental education and/or conservation efforts.

Imagine: A Center For Community & the Arts
The Details
This one is a bit outside of Newton but it had to make the list. Your children can run, jump, climb and play in Imagine's expansive indoor playground and imaginative play town. Fun, interactive, creative activities are available for children of all ages (babies, toddlers, preschool, school age and even adults!) Even on busier rainy days you can find a calm space to be cozy or join the action.

Charles River Canoe and Kayak

The Details
Head over to the Newton Canoe and Kayak location to grab a canoe and set off to explore the Charles River. Pack a picnic and find shady spot to float for lunch. Don’t forget the lifejackets!
