When you apply for a loan, you will have to interview with a loan officer. You should prepare for this interview as seriously as you would for a job interview.
1. Dress for Success
Even though dressing well does not improve your credentials, it shows that you are serious about getting a loan and also shows confidence.
2. Come Prepared
Bring your past 2 years’ tax returns and W2s, past 2 months’ bank statements, and most recent pay stubs. Having good credit is the most important factor in making you look good. Having stable employment and savings is also helpful.
3. Ask as Many Questions as You Want
Prepare a list of questions before you interview. They can be about anything from how the overall process works, approval timing, or what the lender needs from you.
4. Respond Quickly
Once you’ve begun the process of getting your loan, your loan officer will ask you for specific items. The faster and more organized you reply, the better you look and the faster your loan gets processed.
