Moving to Brookline? Knowing the school system in a town is a key focus when it comes to making the move. And Brookline's public school system is one of the best in the state. In Boston Magazine, Brookline was ranked #19 in the 2013 "Massachusetts 50 best public school" article. They compiled numbers from 147 municipalities in Greater Boston, and ranked the schools based on many factors, including student-to-teacher ratio, per-pupil expenditure, graduation rate, MCAS scores, and the percent of students going to college.

According to the Brookline Public School website, there is a staff of approximately 1200 and the schools are supported by a $59.9M budget. Eight k-8 schools feed into one comprehensive high school. The reason for a K-8 system? According to the website, it is because "in a K-8 system, everyone knows the child better and difficult transitions are eliminated."
